For the buyers who don’t need the capability of the full-size trucks, Chevrolet offers the mid-size Colorado. This truck and twinned Canyon model arrived all-new for the 2015 model version and reinvigorated the mid-size segment in the US. This niche has also got the new Ford Ranger for the 2019 model year. On the other hand, the bowtie brand introduced the redesigned, full-size 2019 Silverado 1500 while is also working on the new-generation heavy-duty models.
However, the 2019 Chevrolet Colorado should benefit from the mid-cycle upgrade. The changes expected to be applied to this truck should be inspired by the full-size Silverado. The model should also receive some interior upgrades plus the modern equipment. The engine options will stay familiar but the new transmission system could boost the performance and efficiency. Chevy hasn’t revealed details about the upcoming Colorado.
2019 Chevrolet Colorado: Design changes
Chevrolet still hides the details about the 2019 Chevrolet Colorado and the test model hasn’t also been spotted on the road. However, Colorado will likely receive the mid-cycle upgrade and present revised styling while the platform and dimensions will stay.
Styling wise, the refreshed Colorado is expected with updated front and rear sections. The changes will follow the principles applied to Chevy’s latest SUVs and full-size Silverado. The front fascia should get narrower headlights and modernized grille design. The front and rear bumpers will also get a tweaked design and the taillights will also look slightly different. The profile and side panels won’t change and we won’t see more dynamic profile lines like on the new Silverado.
The cabin of Colorado has simple and functional design and comes well equipped. The truck is also available in many shapes and forms from simple to richer versions as well as the off-road ready models.
The updated version will improve with fresh materials and attractive patterns. The MyLink infotainment system will the latest features will be available on all versions and the truck should also improve its safety ratings. Colorado will probably add the automatic emergency braking and more active safety systems which currently missing from the list.
2019 Chevrolet Colorado: Performance options
The Chevy Colorado performs well on the road but can also be equipped to tackle the rugged terrains. The Z71 and more capable ZR2 will get upgraded hardware to go behind the paved roads.
The engine options will likely stay as in current version. In the current form, the base 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine makes 200 horsepower and develops 191 pound-feet of torque. More ponies and higher torque provides a 3.6-liter V-6 petrol. This engine produces 308 hp and 275 lb-ft of torque. The best torque and towing ratings deliver proven 2.8-liter four-cylinder Duramax turbodiesel. This engine delivers 181 hp and torque of 369 pound-feet.
Chevy currently combines the base and Duramax engines with the six-speed automatic gearbox. The V-6 petrol has the 8-gear automatic transmission. However, for the 2019 version, Chevy could improve with the new 10-speed automatic. This transmission would improve truck’s performance and efficiency but Chevy hasn’t confirmed this yet.
2019 Chevrolet Colorado: Arrival, Price
The 2019 Chevrolet Colorado should come in the refreshed from this fall. The price will again start from low $20, 000 but new features should bring slight price increase.
