2019 Ford F-450 Super Duty: Design, Capability, Specs

2019 Ford F-450 Super Duty

Ford continues to be the leader in the truck market stateside and has the most-up-to-date fleet in the industry. Yes, GM and Ram introduced fully-redesigned, light-duty models recently but when some heavy lifting has to be done, Ford is still in front of the rivals as it redesigned Super Duty Series for the 2017 model year while others will join with the all-new versions in a year or two. Ford also made some changes to the 2018 Super Duty series with the new Limited trim and other minor modifications.

For the 2019 model year, Ford is not expected to do much on the Super Duty range while the 2020 model year could bring new heavy-duty transmission with more gears. In that context, the 1.5-ton 2019 Ford F-450 Super Duty won’t also change the way it looks and handles the heavy lifting. Ford will likely offer more standard equipment and upgrade some features but won’t go with mechanical and design changes.

2019 Ford F-450 Super Duty: Design

The F-450 is the bigger brother of Ford’s heavy-duty F-250 and F-350 models but it handles big loads slightly different. The 1.5-ton version has standard 19.5-inch commercial tires and wider front and rear track. Up front, it has five additional inches in the width and more than foot rear which improves its stability while towing and also provides better maneuverability as its front wheels can turn sharper.

On the other hand, the F-450 shares the exterior design with smaller siblings including the aluminum made body panels and styling elements. However, this truck only comes in the crew cab form only and with the long 8.2-foot cargo bed plus with the dual-rear-wheel axle.

This truck will return with the same trim options and styling will change with each version. The base version will have black grille and bumpers, LED roof lights, running boards, etc.  The XLT version will go with chrome styling elements while the Lariat will add fog lights. Upper grades will get body-colored bumpers, LED lighting units front and rear, etc.

Interior:

The interior of the 1.5-ton Ford Super Duty will also transform from the basic-equipped XL model with cloth upholstery and benches to leather and contrasting stitching treated cabins. The truck will also offer up-to-date Sync infotainment system, heated and ventilated front seats, multicontour seats with massage function, wood trim elements, etc.

The truck will also be equipped in some versions with active safety systems such as the surround view cameras, trailer and towing camera system, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, etc.

In the combination with this engine, Ford uses TorqShift 6-speed automatic transmission. The all-wheel drive comes by default.

When it comes how this model handles heavy loads, it allows the payload capacity of 7, 630 pounds. The max towing capacity is up to 34, 000 lbs with gooseneck setup. The conventional towing maximum is up to 21, 000 lbs.
