The mid-size Ranger returned to the US for the 2019 model year while the global market gets the refreshed version. Ford also revealed the hard-core Raptor version with the bi-turbo engine again for the markets outside of US. The global market will again get another off-road ready version the Wildtrak while the buyers in the US will have to satisfy with the FX packages for now if they want to spend more time away from the paved roads.
The buyers in other markets will have the chance to enjoy the updated 2019 Ford Ranger Wildtrak version. The new version will be available with Raptor’s 2.0-liter bi-turbo engine and 10-speed automatic transmission while will keep a 3.2-liter unit as standard. Ford also made upgrades to the suspension system across the range and the Wildtrak will also get the new safety tech and more standard equipment. Some styling tweaks and interior features will also stand out this version from others.
2019 Ford Ranger Wildtrak: Styling, Interior
The 2019 Ford Ranger Wildtrak gets a few styling tweaks and again stands out with the unique exterior cues. The model returns with the dark gray finish on the grille and wing mirrors. The model also gains the new LED fog lights and can be had with the 18-inch alloy wheels. It also includes side steps, sports bar, bed roller shutter, etc.
The interior benefits from the upgraded finishes. It comes with the distinctive stitching and the cabin returns with the black treatment. The heated front seats have partial black leather padding.
The Wildtrak also adds to mentioned the standard Sync3 infotainment system with the 8-inch center screen and Apple Car Paly and Android Auto features. The model also has a DAB+ radio, sat-nav, easy lift tailgate, keyless entry/start, etc.
The model also gains auto emergency braking with pedestrian detection, traffic sign recognition, semi-auto park assist, etc. The model returns with lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, auto high beam, tire pressure monitoring, forward collision warning, etc.
2019 Ford Ranger Wildtrak: Performance
Ford upgraded the suspension across the range promising better ride comfort and reduced body roll. The 2019 Ford Ranger Wildtrak also gets the new bi-turbo diesel engine option from the Raptor version while comes with the 3.2-liter TDCi by default.
The new 2.0-liter twin-turbocharged turbodiesel engine from the Raptor version is optional on the Wildtrak. The engine makes 210 hp and 500 Nm of torque. The pair with the engine is a 10-speed automatic gearbox and Raptor’s Terrain Management System also migrates with the new engine.
A 3.2-liter TDCi five-cylinder engine returns with 197 hp and torque of 470 Nm. The five-cylinder turbo diesel will remain with the six-speed automatic transmission.
The Wiladtrak is with the four-wheel drive by default while the towing limit stays at 3, 500 kg.
2019 Ford Ranger Wildtrak: Availability, Price
The refreshed 2019 Ford Ranger Wildtrak should go on sale in September. Ford Australia will offer the 3.2-liter powered version from $60, 690. The new bi-turbo Wildtrak will cost $63, 990 Australian dollars.
