Ford’s ¾-ton, heavy-duty, F-250 pickup truck provides the next level of the towing and payload capability over the best-selling, light-duty F-150. Still, the first in the range of the Super Duty Series trucks delivers everyday usability and an impressive amount of the comfort and tech features.
The Super Duty trucks were all-new for the 2017 model year and Ford has been spotted recently while testing the refreshed models which will face with the all-new Chevy and Ram HD trucks for the 2020 model year. The models were caught in several forms and the 2020 Ford F-250 with the thick camo was also in front of the spy camera.
Ford hasn’t revealed what has in the upgrade plan but the spy photos suggest some visual changes. The models should also boost the performance and efficiency of the V-8 engines and the new 7.0-liter unit could appear for the fleet configuration. The big upgrade should also be the new, heavy-duty, 10-speed automatic gearbox.
2020 Ford F-250: Styling
Ford will update the styling of the 2020 Ford F-250 and the rest of the Super Duty range but won’t go with the skin-deeper upgrades. The truck has the high-tensile steel made chassis and aluminum body panels as the light-duty version and the same strategy will apply new GM’s and Ram’s HD trucks.
From the visual point of view, the new model year should bring the new grille style at least for some versions. The prototype version seems to have the new grille version with the large Ford badge in the middle and no two-bar pattern. Ford will also refresh the design of the headlights and taillights and more sculpted tailgate should also be the part of the update.
Interior, equipment:
The Ford F-250 doesn’t lack the comfort and tech features but the new version should introduce fresh options and upgrades. Still, there won’t be radical design changes in the cabin.
The truck will offer the latest Sync infotainment system and the number of the advanced safety systems. The material quality will range from the durable vinyl and cloth upholstery to different quality and style leather. The high luxury features will also be at the disposal as well as the number of the cab styles and other configurations.
2020 Ford F-250: Powertrain Upgrades
Ford is also quiet about the details of the powertrain range of the refreshed 2020 Ford F-250. The truck should, however, arrive with the familiar V-8 units under the hood but with some performance and efficiency upgrades likely.
A 6.2-liter gasoline V-8 engine is capable now for 385 hp and torque of 430 pound-feet. The 6.7-liter V-8 turbodiesel puts the bar higher with 450 hp and impressive torque of 935 lb-ft. Sources claim that the diesel unit could gain around 15 lb-ft more thanks to the upgrades.
The current heavy-duty Ford exploits the six-speed automatic gearbox but the new 10-speed automatic should bring performance and efficiency upgrades.
2020 Ford F-250: Release, Pri
The refreshed 2020 Ford F-250 will go on sale in late 2019. More details should emerge soon while the new prices will be known after the debut. Ford will, likely, keep the price range close to the current.
