
The light-duty, half-ton pickup truck has been renewed with the three all-new models for the 2019 model year and the fourth-generation GMC Sierra 1500 is among redesigned versions. The new, light-duty Sierra arrived with the new, glittering styling, more distinguished from the twin Silverado model, while two trucks continue to share the same mechanics and similar interiors. GMC has also a few unique features like the MultiPro tailgate and carbon fiber cargo bed.
With the revolutionary upgrades, a number of powertrain options and fresh styling, GMC has the truck ready to soldier for several years without any significant upgrade. In that context, the next 2020 GMC Sierra 1500 is expected to hit the market with a few possible changes. The model will likely bring a limited number of novelties such as the new color options and possibly special edition version or new package option.
2020 GMC Sierra 1500: Design
For the new, fourth-generation version, the Sierra 1500 underwent revolutionary structural and notable styling transformations. Thanks to the lightweight materials the new truck weights up to 360 pounds less while has the strengthened chassis.
The styling of the new-gen, half-ton Sierra wears even more eye-catchy grille in the combination with the C-shaped headlights. The truck has also large fog lights pockets and tall, creased hood. The new taillights and stamped tailgate define the rear side while the profile gets attention with the sculpted fenders and different wheel styles.
The 2020 GMC Sierra 1500 version will keep the same styling and offer several new body color options and possibly new exterior theme. The grille style will vary between the trims and versions will switch between, body color and chrome accents. The truck will also ride on different size and style of wheels ranging from 17 to 20 inches.
Interior, Equipment:
The next Sierra 1500 will also continue with the same interior style which has a lot in common with the twin Silverado model. The truck has, however, some unique interior details and trimming. The center stack keeps the controls and center display in the shield-shaped area and the high-spec versions will come with the 8.0-inch touchscreen interface. The truck will also raise the stake with the leather upholstery, open pore wood and aluminum finishes and offer also plenty of other customization options.
The range of options will again start with the base version with the air conditioning, a 7-inch touchscreen, six-speakers etc. The following SLE, SLT, AT4 and Denali trims will raise the level of tech and convenience features gradually. The truck will also employ advanced safety systems like adaptive cruise control, active lane control, automatic emergency braking, surround vision cameras, etc.
2020 GMC Sierra 1500: Powertrains
The 2020 GMC Sierra 1500 won’t also come with the surprises when it comes to the powertrain options. The buyers will have a wide range of options with different cylinders counts, turbo or non-turbo and diesel units plus several transmission chooses.
The base Sierra will have a 285 hp, 305 pound-feet of torque 4.3-liter engine coupled with the 6-speed transmission. The truck will also offer the V-8 duo of familiar engines. A 5.3-liter V-8 will come with either 6- or 8-speed auto gearbox producing 355 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque. A 6.3-liter V-8 will be pair with the 10-speed automatic and produce 420 hp and torque 460 lb-ft.
The half-ton Sierra will also offer a turbocharged 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine with the 8-speed gearbox. This unit makes 310 hp and torque of 348 lb-ft. Eventually, the diesel mill will also arrive.
The truck will also boost the off-road capability in the AT4 version. The towing and payload ratings won’t be in the class top and users will have to limit the towing to 12, 200 pounds and payload to 2, 240 pounds.
2020 GMC Sierra 1500: Release, Price
The 2020 GMC Sierra 1500 will go on sale in late 2019. The price range should stay close to the current. The light-duty model is available now from $34, 995 to $59, 745.
