The number of pickup trucks on the roads around the globe is growing and more brands are joining the race. Buyers are demanding all sorts of trucks from the work-oriented models to luxury equipped examples but the off-road ready versions are also in the focus. With many models recently redesigned or updated, the Isuzu D-Max is a one of those on the more rugged and utilitarian side. The model received the update for the 2017 version with the updated styling and engines and better-insulated cabin. But the Isuzu’s truck still remains not very refined model while we appreciate its strong engine, capability and long warranty.
Isuzu knows the pulse of the buyers and promised the next generation D-Max as the more refined and feature-rich contender in the market. But no signs when the new generation version will arrive. We know that the new generation Mazda BT-50 will share the platform with the redesigned Isuzu D-Max and the model is a few years from the launch. So, as the things now stand, the 2020 Isuzu D-Max will likely stay in the same size and shape while the all-new D-Max should hit the market in 2020 as the 2021 model. Isuzu will likely offer new options for the 2020 version but expect the same style and interior as well as the engines and capability.
2020 Isuzu D-Max: Design
No prototype models of the next-generation Isuzu D-Max spotted on the roads yet and we should expect the 2020 version to appear with the familiar design and possibly with the new special edition version and new color options. Isuzu updated the styling of the D-Max for the 2017 model year with the refreshed grille version, updated headlights and new bonnet and rear bumper. The 2020 Isuzu D-Max will continue to live on these updates until the approaching redesign.
Interior, Equipment:
Inside the cabin, the Isuzu D-Max has a simple and functional design and lacks the level of refinement we can find in a growing number of the classmates. That won’t change for the 2020 model year as the latest reports indicate. The more premium interior and the upgraded tech and safety equipment will arrive with the new-generation Isuzu D-max.
The US Colorado-shared interior will, however, offer comfortable seats and multiple storage compartments. The 7- and 9-inch screen options will also be available as well as the DAB radio, Navigation, Apple Car Play and Android Auto support, strong sound system, leather upholstery and more.
2020 Isuzu D-Max: Performance
If you are buying the truck for its primary function, the 2020 Isuzu D-Max will match the class top towing capability of 3500 kg and allow nearly 1300 kg in the cargo box.
The engine options should remain the same for the 2020 version. The widely available Isuzu D-Max will offer several engine options and the availability will depend on the market. A 3.0-liter turbo diesel will provide 174 hp and torque of 430 Nm. The last refresh brought a 1.9-liter turbodiesel four-cylinder unit and this engine will deliver 163 hp and torque of 360 Nm.
The truck will again come with both 4×2 and 4×4 setup and with the manual and automatic transmissions.
2020 Isuzu D-Max: Release, Price
The 2020 Isuzu D-Max will have the market launch in late 2019. The price won’t change radically.
