Jeep recently introduced the all-new 2018 Jeep Wrangler which comes with better on- and off-road abilities, lighter and modernized structure, nicer and techier interiors. The new Wrangler preserved its timeless appeal but also evolved into more modern and capable machine and even better Jeep will finally offer its pickup truck version.
Jeep is diligently testing its new mid-size truck and the model will arrive as the 2019 Jeep Scrambler. The prototypes spotted on the roads confirming everyone’s expectations about model’s design while the new Wrangler gives us a sure bet about the running gear and equipment. We also have some leaked details about the towing and payload ratings and surely Jeep’s truck will be a great and unique machine.
2019 Jeep Scrambler: Design
Despite the 2019 Jeep Scrambler prototypes are performing the on-road tests wrapped in the thick camo, it is obvious that Wrangler Unlimited-based truck will borrow a lot from its SUV twin. The model will have identical front-end design defined with seven-slot grille and circular headlights as the new Wrangler Unlimited and that will continue on model’s profile until the B-pillars.
Behind the rear pillars, the model will have attached cargo bed and will measure about three feet more than SUV twin. The pickup truck will only come with four doors and like the new Wrangler, aluminum will be used for the hood, hinges, door panels and fenders. Reports also promise three roof options including three-piece hard-top and soft top version but there will be black and body color variations.
Interior, Equipment:
Inside the cabin, Jeep’s truck will also adopt a similar design and offer similar equipment range as the SUV version. The model will come with the fourth-generation Uconnect system and Jeep will offer it in different variations most likely in 5-, 7- and 8.4-inch versions like in the redesigned Wrangler.
The new truck will also offer different material options and upscale features like the popular SUV. It will also include some advanced safety systems. Jeep will likely offer blind-spot monitoring and rear parking sensors while the rearview camera will come on all versions. However, systems like adaptive cruise control, active lane control, automatic emergency braking are still under the question as Jeep lacks these options in the newest Wrangler.
2019 Jeep Scrambler: Powertrains
What is sure, the 2019 Jeep Scrambler will be the most capable off-roader among the mid-size trucks. The solid axles, wheel articulation and the capable all-wheel-drive system will beat all challenges.
The truck will likely debut with the 3.6-liter V-6 Pentastar engine under the hood. Jeep will pair this engine with the six-speed manual or new 8-speed automatic. It will produce around 285 hp and 260 pound-feet of torque as it makes in the new Wrangler.
We are not sure, about the 2.0-liter turbo inline-4 with eTorque hybridization and 48-volt electrification. This combo is rated at 270 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque in the newest Wrangler but we will see about this option for the Scrambler.
What is sure, however, Jeep will offer the new truck with the diesel powertrain option. A 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V-6 will provide around 260 hp and 442 lb-ft of torque.
The towing limit as per leaked details should be at 6, 500 pounds while the payload maximum should be 1, 400 pounds.
2019 Jeep Scrambler: Arrival, Price
The 2019 Jeep Scrambler should debut in late 2018. We expect the price around $35, 000.
