With the growing number of the redesigned and refreshed pickups in the global market, Mitsubishi made also an effort to bring the heavily refreshed L200. Otherwise known as the Triton, the refreshed truck debuted at the 2018 Bangkok Auto Show but won’t come to the UK before 2019 which means it could hit the market as the 2020 Mitsubishi L200.
In any case, the refreshed model gets a significantly changed styling which follows several refinements inside the cabin. The new version will also gain the new safety kit and on the performance front, it brings the upgraded four-wheel drive system. The new six-speed automatic transmission is also ready for the new model year while the familiar engine remains.
2020 Mitsubishi L200: Design
The 2020 Mitsubishi L200 will arrive with the radically new look. The truck has the all-new front fascia and the re-sculpted profile while remaining in the same dimensions and with the same sized cargo bed.
The model switched to the brand’s latest “Dynamic Shield” design which defines the brand’s latest models such as the ASX and Shogun Sport SUVs. The new front-end includes slim, new LED headlights and the redesigned more angular front bumper. More sculpted cheeks and newly shaped fenders provide more muscular presence. The new 18-inch alloy wheels also contribute to the style as well as the restyled taillights.
The large rear overhang remains and the cargo bed also has the same dimensions.
Interior, equipment:
Mitsubishi wasn’t so radical with the changes inside the cabin like on the exterior side. The truck gets several new soft-touch surfaces and that on the handbrake, center armrest and console. The dashboard design remains the same while the truck gets the updated infotainment system.
What is also important, the truck finally gains additional active safety systems. The truck will be safer thanks to the blind spot detection, rear cross-traffic alert, surround-vision cameras, collision mitigation and warning system.
2020 Mitsubishi L200: Powertrain
The 2020 Mitsubishi L200 won’t bring the new engine options and should remain at the same towing limit.
The truck will get the power from the modern 2.4-liter turbodiesel engine. The versions will deliver 158 or 178 hp while torque will be 380 and 430 Nm.
Mitsubishi improved, however, the suspension system with the new setup and dampers. The truck gains also a better braking power thanks to the larger discs and calipers.
The upgrades continue with the improved selectable 4WD system. The truck will offer the Easy Select and Super Select four-wheel drive systems. There will be the drive modes for the sand, mud, rock and snow.
2020 Mitsubishi L200: Arrival, Pric
The 2020 Mitsubishi L200 will hit the UK market in 2019. The price will likely move slightly upward considering extensive styling, performance and safety upgrades. The current version starts from £19,505.
