While three all-new, half-ton, full-size trucks arrived earlier in the year, Toyota updated the styling of its full-size Tundra truck and boosted the safety with the standard Toyota Sense suite for the 2018 model year. For the 2019 version, Toyota brings back the TRD Pro version with upgraded suspension, styling and interior enhancements while the rest of the lineup remains mostly unchanged.
So, the Tundra is the old workhorse among the newer and more efficient rivals but this truck still scores with the dependability and durability while long lineup offers attractive and fun-to-drive options. The upgraded TRD Pro trim will certainly be in the focus but buyers will again have the chance to go with the 2019 Toyota Tundra TRD Sport version which builds on the SR5 trim with added sport-tuned suspension, and updated styling and interior.
2019 Toyota Tundra TRD Sport: Design
While the improved TRD Pro version is the most rugged of all Tundras and needs the dirt trails and harsh terrains to show what it has specialized for the 2019 Toyota Tundra TRD Sport makes the statement with the street-smart styling and performance.
The model has uniquely executed grille, headlights finishes, badging, wheels and more details. The headlights and fog lights on this model are with the LED technology and large 20-inch alloy wheels divide it from the rest. The TRD Sport also adds the hood scoop and although it isn’t functional it adds to its look. This version also matches the color of the bumpers and mirrors with the body.
Interior, equipment:
Inside the cabin, all Tundras are with the symmetrical dash design and easy-to-use controls but the materials quality and interior design don’t match the newer rivals. Still, Tundra delivers everything you need and more and the TRD Sport package adds a few unique details to that.
The model comes with the 7-inch infotainment system and the Safety Sense suite of active safety systems. The package covers adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, automatic emergency braking, auto high beam, etc. The TRD Sport also has the TRD shift knob, floor mats, and graphics.
2019 Toyota Tundra TRD Sport: Performance
The 2019 Toyota Tundra TRD Sport employs the proven 5.7-L DOHC V-8 engine. The engine comes in the combination with the six-speed automatic transmission and the model has 381 hp and 401 pound-feet of torque at disposal. Available will also be the electronically controlled, two-speed transfer case and Toyota’s A-TRAC system.
The TRD Sport also gets the special suspension components. The TRD-branded Bilstein shocks sit under all four corners and have sport-tuned settings for the improved on-road ride. This model also uses thicker TRD-sourced front and rear sway bars.
2019 Toyota Tundra TRD Sport: Availability, Price
The 2019 Toyota Tundra TRD Sport will appear with other versions in upcoming months. The SR5 version will cost from around $36, 000 and the TRD Sport package will new a few thousand more.
