
The rugged and reliable Toyota Hilux is capable for both the comfortable ride and attacking the off-road routes. With the recent upgrade and addition of the new models, the fast-selling Hilux offers one of the broadest range of versions all in order to meet the demands of more truck-hungry buyers. The Rogue, Rugged and Rugged X versions boast the unique styling and have special purpose backed by the upgraded equipment.
The current generation Hilux arrived for the 2015 model year and thanks to the smooth diesel engine and brand’s reliability it pretends to stay in the top of the class for years. The all-new Hilux is about four years far from now and the 2020 Toyota Hilux isn’t expected to bring major upgrades. There will be some tech and equipment updates and even more options will likely appear. Another important upgrade for the 2020 Hilux cloud also be the TRD version as recent reports claim. No confirmation yet for another off-road ready Hilux but it could be another success for the fabled ute.
2020 Toyota Hilux: Design
With the recent introduction of the Rogue, Rugged and Rugged X versions, the Hilux is now available in new styling flavors. The new variants depart from the previously available versions with the Tacoma-inspired grille version and additional equipment like the snorkel, sports bar, body graphics and more. The bumpers have also new design on the new versions.
For the 2020 Toyota Hilux, the things will remain pretty much the same regarding the way it looks. New shades will appear for the new model year as well as the wheel options. If the TRD version arrives with the next Hilux, the model will also bring the enhanced styling. The higher riding height, TRD-branded grille and skid plates will come in the combination with smoked headlights and all-terrain tires.
Interior, Equipment:
Inside the cabin, the 2020 Hilux also stay the familiar form. The Hilux has a comfortable interior with the car-like dashboard and clear controls and buttons. The material quality and comfort gradually upgrade with the upper trim levels and more tech also becomes available.
The next Hilux will offer the newest touchscreen interface and even the base version will have a large center screen. The upper grades will also upgrade from the vinyl and cloth upholstery to the leather surfaces with contrasting accents. The SR5 version will come with the 18-inch alloys and LED units while the SR5+ variant will improve with the upgraded upholstery, more power functions and premium features.
The Rogue will add to that with the unique front-end styling, sports bar, etc. while the Rugged X will add the elements like the snorkel, LED light bar, recovery hooks and more.
Toyota is also expected to boost the safety measures with the new advanced systems.
2020 Toyota Hilux: Powertrains
The 2020 Toyota Hilux will continue with the most variants powered by the smooth 2.8-liter turbodiesel engine. A 2.4-liter diesel and 2.7-liter petrol four-cylinder units should stay available on the Workmate variants.
The 2.8-liter turbo-4 diesel will produce around 177 hp with the max torque around 450 Nm available from low 1, 600 rpm. The manual and automatic transmissions should both remain in the offer. The 2WD and more capable 4WD options will also be available.
If the TRD version arrives, it would get the upgraded suspension with the increased wheel articulation, upgraded shocks and other elements plus the underbody protection.
2020 Toyota Hilux: Arrival, Price
The 2020 Toyota Hilux will have the launch in late 2019. It’s too early for the precise price and details but the new version should also bring a slightly increased price.
