Audi’s lineup of SUVs continues to grow and the new flagship high-riding model will join as the Audi Q8. However, since Audi will soon fill up the range of SUVs could it switch to another car market lucrative segment. We are speaking about the growing pickup truck market which doesn’t show the signs of slowing down. Exactly opposite, Tesla will launch the all-electric truck and Jeep scheduled the production of the Wrangler-based cargo bed-attached version. Mercedes also joined the game and other brands also exploring the market.
However, Audi hasn’t commented on the rumors and while BMW teased with the “never say never” phrase Audi hasn’t shown signs of considering this option. Speculations and renderings, however, appeared suggesting the possible design solution for the Audi-badged pickup truck. Audi could easily bring the 2019 Audi Pickup Truck with the platform borrowed from VW and its design and interior cues. It would be the great addition to the high-class pickup niche.
2019 Audi Pickup Truck: Possible Design
Well, if it would be the case that 2019 Audi Pickup Truck is approved to go to the production, Audi would likely do something similar as Mercedes did. Audi wouldn’t likely design its pickup from the ground up and would instead borrow the platform of the recently improved VW Amarok. Mercedes used that recipe with the Nissan Navara-based design and speeded up the process. The similar thing could do Audi but what’s less probable could also decide to go with the unibody design.
On the other hand, Audi’s truck version would adopt brand’s latest styling cues. Audi would likely offer its truck version in the crew cab form only, as it is the case with the Mercedes X-Class and Amarok truck. The truck would adopt the version of brand’s signature hexagonal grille and the newest design of the headlight units. The profile would have similar body sculpting as the Amarok and the rear would have the Audi-specific taillights.
Interior, Equipment:
The interior of the truck would also be in the line with brand’s newest vehicles. The horizontally-oriented dashboard will have the high-mounted center display and familiar shape of air vents and other controls. The top-tier version might also offer the Virtual Cockpit design. Premium quality materials and comfort features would also be on the offer in the similar level as on the brand’s SUVs.
The truck would also be equipped with the suite of crash avoidance technologies and also the towing enhancement packages.
2019 Audi Pickup Truck: Powertrains
When it comes to the power options, the 2019 Audi Pickup Truck would have many options to choose from. What is sure, Audi would combine any engine option with the 8-speed automatic transmission and with the power on all four wheels.
Audi’s truck would be another mid-size model with the V-6 diesel engine which is currently under the hood of the VW Amarok only. A 3.0-liter TDI V-6 would likely arrive in more power and torque outputs. The gasoline version would be a 3.0-liter TFSI V-6 with more ponies and lower torque than in the case of the diesel. However, when we already speculate the twin-turbo V-8 diesel or petrol performance version is also great even to just imagine it.
2019 Audi Pickup Truck: Nice Fiction
The 2019 Audi Pickup Truck is just a nice fiction for now as Audi hasn’t hinted any sign of this option. However, we shouldn’t say never to Audi’s truck.
