2020 Chevy Silverado LT Trail Boss: Changes, Equipment

2020 Chevy Silverado LT Trail Boss

The 2019 model year brought the all-new Chevy Silverado 1500 and its corporate cousin GMC Sierra. The newest, half-ton Silverado is larger and lighter than ever and a number of available configurations is almost uncountable. The number of trims is eight and there are five engine options combined with three transmission choices. The truck can take different forms depending on one’s preference and among available configurations, Chevy offers also off-road ready versions. The Custom Trail Boss gets a four-wheel drive by default and Z71 package but uses V-6 engine. More sophistication and power are available in the LT Trail Boss version which relies on the V-8 engine and adds additional equipment and trim accents.

The Silverado LT Trail Boss is ready to go off-road but the current version can be equipped with the 5.3-liter V-8 engine only. Chevy will, however, add a new, range-topping V-8 engine in the LT Trail Boss and Duramax turbodiesel will also join the lineup for the 2020 model year. But, based on what we know so far, the turbodiesel unit won’t be available with the 2020 Chevy Silverado LT Trail Boss. The newly added V-8 engine will come in the combination with the 10-speed automatic transmission.

2020 Chevy Silverado LT Trail Boss: Design

The new generation, light-duty Silverado benefits from the new frame and body and Chevy improved truck’s structural rigidity and capability while making the model lighter despite being larger in all directions.

The fourth generation Silverado 1500 is also different visually and sports a more dynamic body style and has also a new but highly criticized front-end style. The new grille design combined with new, slim headlights look strange at least and could be detected as one of the reasons why the new Ram 1500 overtook the Silverado on the sales chart.

Chevy won’t, of course, intervene on model’s styling until the mid-cycle update and the 2020 Chevy Silverado LT Trail Boss will return with the same exterior features. The truck will use black-finish grille and unique 18-inch gloss black wheels. The suspension lift will also affect the look of the model and part of its identity will also be Z71 badges, black bumpers, LED headlights, red tow hooks, etc.

Interior, Equipment:

Inside the cabin, the Silverado LT Trail Bos will have easy to use controls and comfortable seas but won’t provide many high-comfort features by default.

The model will have a cloth seat trim by default and leather-wrapped steering wheel.  The standard features will also include power door locks and windows, rear window defogger, keyless open and start, etc. There will also be the carpet flooring and all-weather floor liners with Z71 logos.

The truck will also come with Chevrolet Infotainment system with 8-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth connectivity, 4G LTE Wi-Fi, six speakers, driver information display, etc.

Some of the options will include dual-zone climate control, leather-appointed seats, heated front seats, 10-way power driver seat, heated steering wheel, Bose sound system, etc.

As for the safety equipment, the LT Trail Boss will offer lane change alert, blind-spot detection with rear cross-traffic alert, and parking sensors. The systems such as lane keep assist and lane departure warning are not available on the current version and Chevy equips the top trims with these systems now. There could be some changes in this regard for the new model year.

The standard engine will again be a 5.3-liter EcoTec V-8 engine with Dynamic Fuel Management system. The engine comes in pair with 8-speed automatic transmission system and provides 355 hp and torque of 383 pound-feet. The 10-speed automatic will also be available with this engine for the new model year
