The recently redesigned, light-duty GMC Sierra 1500 is also more refined than ever and can take different forms depending on the trim level. The Denali trim is again signature of the brand but the half-ton Sierra can also perform well off-road while providing a high-level of sophistication inside and out. The 2020 GMC Sierra 1500 AT4 will equip most of the high-end comfort and tech features but will also add off-road enhancements. The new engine options should also come in time and be ready for off-road adventures.
2020 GMC Sierra 1500 AT4: Design
The fourth generation Sierra 1500 arrived with the redesigned underpinning and redefined exterior styling but the model also lost some pounds in the process despite it is larger than ever.
The styling of the model hasn’t actually changed much in shape and the half-ton Sierra has kept the defined edges and squared-off shapes while introduced the redesigned styling elements combined with the weight-saving measurements. The models have more dynamic grille shape and new, sharp-looking LED headlights. The innovative multi-configurable tailgate and cargo fiber cargo bed are also unique in the class.
The 2020 GMC Sierra 1500 AT4 will benefit from all mentioned adding also some distinguished elements in its appearance. For the off-road purpose, obvious will be a 2-inch suspension lift and exclusive 18-inch alloy wheels with the all-terrain tires. Buyers will also have a chance to pick the larger 20-inch wheels.
The Sierra AT4 will also get special treatment and be recognizable thanks to the attractive monochromatic exterior style combined with the unique, radiator grille finished in the black chrome. High intensity LED headlight will also light the road ahead while also looking attractive thanks to the C-shaped elements.
The appropriate badging will also reveal the model’s identity while it will also have a dual exhaust setup.
Inside the cabin, the GMC Sierra 1500 uses the same layout as the twin Chevy Silverado but the AT4 version will get distinctive in-cab style and premium comfort features designed with the active lifestyle demands in the mind.
The AT4 will get unique dark-theme interior with contracting pieces and high tech and comfort features. There will be leather appalments and clever storage compartments. The front and rear row will also provide plenty of space for the driver and passengers.

The off-road focused truck will also equip dual-zone climate control, heated front seats and steering wheel, driver memory setting, etc. Available will also be advanced safety systems like blind spot monitoring with rear cross traffic alert, parking sensors, lane keep assist, forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, pedestrian braking, etc.
2020 GMC Sierra 1500 AT4: Performance
The 2020 GMC Sierra 1500 AT4 will be ready to go beyond the paved roads thanks to the applied off-road enhancements. The truck will combine a standard four-wheel drive with a two-speed transfer case with a 2-inch lifted suspension and Rancho shocks for the undisputed off-road trip. Hill descent control and selectable traction control will also help as well as the all-terrain tires while the underbody protection will keep the valuable gear safe.
The off-road-ready Sierra AT4 will also be available with various engine options. Standard will be a 5.3-liter EcoTec 3 V-8 engine with dynamic fuel management technology. It will come in pair with the 8-speed automatic gearbox and produce 355 hp and torque of 383 lb-ft.
A more potent variant will be the AT4 equipped with the 6.2-liter EcoTec3 V-8 which also exploits dynamic fuel management technology. It comes in the mix with the 10-speed automatic transmission and makes 420 hp and torque of 460 lb-ft.
It’s not clear yet would a new 3.0-liter turbodiesel inline-6 be available on this trim. The oiler produces 277 hp at 3750 rpm and max torque of 460 lb-ft at 1500 rpm. This engine is also paired with the 10-speed automatic gearbox.
