The iconic, hardcore off-road Wrangler has long been expected to get the pickup truck version and after some delays, the new mid-size competitor should hit the road for the 2020 model year. This should be official and the production start should be in the beginning of 2019. The reports also claim that the new truck version will arrive as the 2020 Jeep Scrambler.
The Wrangler-based truck has been on roads testing for a while and every time wrapped in the thick camo. Jeep is also keeping the specs from the public but the new and unique truck version will surely share penalty of style, mechanics and equipment with the recently redesigned Wrangel SUV.
2020 Jeep Scrambler: Design
Jeep successfully preserved the timeless style of the redesigned Wrangler-SUV but mixed with the new modern materials and improved structure. The 2020 Jeep Scrambler will be based on the Wrangler Unlimited SUV and borrow the design language and mechanics.
The Scrambler pickup will come with the four-door cab and the about 5’-6’ flat bed. The underpinning of the Unlimited SUV will be stretched to accommodate the cargo bed with the frame measures around 205 inches compared to 172 inches of the four-door Wrangel SUV.
The model will have the same grille, headlights, similar bumpers, and signature styling elements as the new SUV model. The truck will also have the removable top and soft and hard options.
Interior, Equipment:
The interior of the new mid-size class member will also be a familiar story from the redesigned Wrangler SUV. The same design language will be used for the dash and controls’ setup.
The truck will also offer the new Uconnect infotainment system with different screen size options and upgrades. The new pickup will also employ some of the advanced safety systems like the blind spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, etc. There will also be several levels of the material quality and premium features as well.
2020 Jeep Scrambler: Performance
When it comes to the powering units there won’t be surprises either. The 2020 Jeep Scrambler will use the powertrain options already available on brand’s shelves.
The Scrambler will combine the six-speed automatic and 8-speed auto gearbox with the standard all-wheel drive system. The upgraded off-road gear will also be available in the version of the model.
The base unit under the hood will be a familiar 3.6-liter V-6 engine with the power around 285 hp and torque of 260 pound-feet. The 2.0-liter turbo-4 should also be in the engine list with the power around 270 hp. The 3.0-liter EcoDiesel is also expected with the torque around 440 lb-ft.
The towing capability of the model should go up to 6, 500 pounds while the payload maximum should reach 1, 400 pounds.
2020 Jeep Scrambler: Arrival, Price
As the things now stand, the 2020 Jeep Scrambler production will start in January 2019. The price should start above 30, 000.
