Nissan has been in the news recently with the updated SUV models but the brand should also come out with the improved truck versions soon. The pickup truck market is growing constantly and many all-new models from the leading brands appeared recently. The redesigned light-duty trucks entered the market for the 2018 model year and the full-size, heavy-duty versions go on sale for the 2020 market year. Nissan should also join with the redesigned mid-size Frontier model but the brand should also give some care to the full-size Titan models.
The new, full-size Nissan Titan XD debuted as the 2016 model and light-duty Titan went on sale for the 2017 model year. The brand added new package options and updated the infotainment system for the 2019 versions. The 2020 Nissan Titan XD should come with some visual upgrades and interior improvements. The reports suggest also the addition of the new safety equipment and possible performance upgrades. However, no official details from Nissan yet and the prototype model hasn’t been spotted on the road.
2020 Nissan Titan XD: Design
The Nissan Titan XD is shaped between the light-duty and heavy-duty segments and splits also the capability of two segments. The Titan XD uses the heavy-duty frame and provides greater towing and payload capability than the light-duty Titan.
The 2020 Nissan Titan XD should appear on the stage with the refreshed exterior styling as the reports claim but Nissan hasn’t revealed the plans about the next Titan models. Nissan should also launch the redesigned, mid-size Frontier and the model should be in the late phase of development.
As for the changes on the Titan XD’s styling, the model will get tweaked grille versions with the different treatment for almost every trim. The updated headlights and taillights should also appear while the model will remain in the same shape and size. The new wheel designs will also be part of the refresh.
The cabin of the full-size Titan XD should also come with some material and equipment upgrades. The fresh details will appear inside the truck’s cabin and the model will again offer a wide range of the customization options.
The truck will include the latest infotainment system with Apple Car play and Android Auto support and should expand the range of the safety equipment. The power for the 2020 Nissan Titan XD should continue to provide familiar engine options but some performance upgrades are possible. The light-duty Titan versions should gain a new V-6 petrol engine which should also power the redesigned mid-size Frontier.
A 5.6-liter V-8 gasoline unit makes 390 horsepower and torque of 395 pound-feet. The engine works in the combination with the 7-speed automatic transmission. A 5.0-liter turbocharged Cummins diesel will be alternative with greater towing capacity. This engine should return with the 6-speed auto gearbox but could gain better performance. In the current form, this engine provides 310 hp and 555 pound-feet of torque with the towing limit of 12, 800 pounds.
The PRO-4X version will be there again to boost the off-road performance of the truck thanks to the standard four-wheel drive, Bilstein shocks, all-terrain tires, a locking rear differential and skid plates.
